Is it possible for travelers to get a good deal on last-minute Thanksgiving flights?
According to travel metasearch engine SkyScanner results, travelers can still find deals on both domestic and international flights.
Laura Lindsay, Skyscanner’s Travel Trends Expert agrees that travelers can still find discounted flights. She says, “Domestic airlines are trending down right now... though travelers might consider traveling internationally during Thanksgiving instead of Christmas or New Year's because Thanksgiving is a U.S. holiday, there’s usually less demand to fly abroad since most people fly domestically for the holiday.”
She added, “Those willing to cut it close will find traveling the day of a holiday can yield better deals.”
Searching by multiple dates is one of your best chances of finding a bargain,” Lindsey explained. “Flight prices are all based on supply and demand. Because some dates are more popular than others, prices will vary. Skyscanner’s ‘whole month’ search tool allows you to see cheap flights at a glance and pick the right deal for you. Consider traveling a day before or a day after your original departure dates, as flying on less popular days of the week can be cheaper.”
