Wishing for a wonderful winter getaway? National rail carrier Amtrak has the perfect deal for you. The company has just launched a limited-time flash sale on its routes throughout the country. Customers can snag ultra-low fares for trips between hundreds of U.S. destinations with departures scheduled from December 4 through March 15, 2024.
“As we head into the holiday season and in parallel with our recently updated fare structure, we’re excited to offer customers access to incredible deals when booking their winter travel,” said Amtrak Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, Eliot Hamlisch. “Whether visiting family and friends, hitting the slopes, or traveling for business, customers can relax in Amtrak’s spacious reclining seats with plenty of legroom and no middle seat.”
To take advantage of these special Winter Sale savings, travelers looking to lock in their cold-weather getaways will need to book by November 15. This seasonal deal is available for Coach and Acela Business Class fares, but you’ll need to act fast, since seat availability is limited and certain restrictions apply.
It is important to note that these sale fares are non-changeable and, therefore, subject to a 50 percent cancellation fee. Customers who prefer the peace of mind of fully changeable and refundable fare types can opt for Flex fares offered under the new ticketing plans.
Amtrak’s newly revamped pricing structure was designed to simplify options and streamline the reservations process. The New Fare Families rely on rounded dollar amounts and clear descriptions of each fare type to make train travel easier and more affordable.
Going by train can spare you from a lot of the typical travel hassles that accompany the holiday rush. And, on top of that, it’s one of the most energy-efficient modes of transportation available, boasting a 72 percent lower emissions rate than flying and an 83 percent lower rate than driving a personal vehicle.
Check out the sample fares available on Amtrak's website, or use its fare finder tool to explore even more options.
