Lyft launched a new series of features ahead of the busy holiday travel season, including an on-time airport pick-up promise.
The pick-up promise ensures travelers will be on time when scheduling rides to the airport — and if they’re ten minutes late or more, they’ll receive up to $100 in Lyft credits.
Lyft users can easily schedule rides up to 30 days in advance, lock in their price and set their preferred pick-up time. Drivers can then accept the ride in advance and earn more scheduling their rides in advance.
The Lyft Cash credits are provided depending on how late a traveler is heading to the airport. Travelers will get $20 in Lyft Cash if their driver is over 10 minutes late; they’ll receive $50 in Lyft Cash if they’re not automatically matched with a driver 10 minutes after their scheduled pickup time; and if travelers need to use another service to get to the airport, they’ll receive up to $50 more. Travelers can submit their receipt from the other service via the ‘Help’ section of the Lyft app.
“Every minute counts when you’re on the way to the airport,” said David Risher, Lyft CEO. “We’re so confident that we can get you there on time that if we’re more than ten minutes late for your scheduled pick-up, we’ll give you up to $100 in Lyft credits to make up for it –even if you take a taxi or an Ub*r.”
Lyft also introduced Extra Comfort mode, an upgrade that allows travelers to take rides in roomier cars with top-rated drivers, and the ability to request a quiet ride or help with luggage. Extra Comfort is available for most Lyft users. Lyft also recently launched the Women+ Connect feature, which allows women and non-binary drivers in select cities to match with more women and non-binary riders.
