Next year, American Cruise Lines will introduce two new ships and nine new itineraries, some of which put the spotlight on US national parks.
“Next year, American’s growing fleet will cruise in 35 states along 50-plus itineraries, highlighting new explorations in the nation’s most beautiful national parks along the Tennessee and Cumberland Rivers, the Columbia and Snake Rivers, and in Alaska,” the line said.
“American’s 2024 season will feature 19 small ships and riverboats visiting 125 U.S. ports of call, including new ports from Sag Harbor, NY, to Washington, DC, to St. Petersburg and Key West, Fla.”
Two new 100-passenger Coastal Cats – American Liberty and American Legend – will debut in June and October 2024, respectively.
“They are the third and fourth in American’s ongoing 12-ship series and are slated to sail a variety of US itineraries in New England, Chesapeake Bay, the Hudson River, and Florida.”
New national parks programs include the 18-day “Grand Alaska National Parks” itinerary, which in addition to an 11-day Alaska cruise, also features seven days of guided tours in Denali and Kenai Fjords national parks and cruising the Inside Passage and Frederick Sound.
Similarly, the 15-day “Alaska National Parks” itinerary features an eight-day cruise coupled with seven days of guided exploration in Denali and Kenai Fjords national parks, and cruising in Glacier Bay National Park. Both itineraries sail between Fairbanks and Juneau.
Cruising between Nashville’s Knoxville and Nashville, the 11-day “Great Smoky Mountains National Park” itinerary includes two days of touring Great Smoky National Park.
The 15-day “National Parks & Legendary Rivers” itinerary, operating between Jackson, Wyo., and Portland, Ore., features an eight day cruise on the Columbia and Snake rivers and guided tours of Glacier, Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks.
“In addition to these new National Parks itineraries, American will also offer an array of other cruises that visit US national parks: including a new eight-day ‘Florida Gulf Coast & Key’ cruise with excursions in Dry Tortugas National Park and Everglades National Park; Puget Sound cruises with excursions in Olympic National Park & Hurricane Ridge; and three different New England cruises with excursions in Acadia National Park.” American said.
In other developments, the line also unveiled what is believed to be the longest cruise itineraries ever offered in the US: a 60-Day “Great United States” sailing and a 35-Day “Civil War Battlefields” voyage.
“Each new itinerary includes exploration aboard three or more of American’s small ships and riverboats,” American said.
“The 60-Day itinerary explores 20 US. States (sailing August 16 to October 14), and the 35-Day itinerary explores 20 Civil War Battlefields (sailing May 3 to June 6 ).”
