RICOH THETA unveils a new 360-degree camera model: THETA X

The most innovative feature of the RICOH THETA X is the 2.25-inch color touchscreen, which makes using the stand-alone camera much easier by reducing the need to connect to a remote control or app for smartphones. Other first-time feature additions include an interchangeable battery and an external memory card for more efficient and reliable shooting. Smartphone connectivity has also been improved, as the RICOH THETA X no longer requires you to enter an SSID when establishing a Bluetooth connection. RICOH THETA X also offers real-time stitching capabilities with stabilization, eliminating the need for video stitching, which dramatically improves processing time for 360-degree videos on computers.

“Since RICHOH THETA launched the world’s first 360-degree camera in 2013, it has been used in a wide range of fields to expand the possibilities of photographic and video expression. The pandemic has caused an even greater need for immersive imagery and virtual tours to drive business efficiency, particularly in the real estate, construction, design and automotive sectors, and we expect this to expand to other sectors,” said Shinobu Fujiki, General Manager of the THETA Business Division of RICOH Company. “As we strive to meet the needs of our customers through innovation in our digital devices and services, this camera is designed to help streamline workflows and deliver high-quality images to professional users and consumers alike. consumers.”

And transfer still images and videos to a smartphone approximately 1.5 times faster than conventional cameras thanks to built-in MIMO (multiple-input, multiple-output technology that communicates using multiple antennas ) and real-time processing such as top/bottom correction when recording videos.

5. Improved the extensibility of the camera body. Like with RICOH THETA V and RICOH THETA Z1, RICOH THETA X uses an Android-based operating system, allowing third-party developers to create and release applications (plug-ins) to extend the camera’s function. Additionally, the RICOH THETA X is equipped with a large touch screen, greatly expanding the scope of plug-in development. It is also now possible to easily configure “client mode” (a mode used to directly connect the RICOH THETA to a wireless router) without using a smartphone. This makes it possible to install plug-ins and update firmware simply by using the RICOH THETA X itself without using a computer or smartphone, making it easy to expand functions to meet the needs of the user. user.
