The government’s pandemic task force has placed Portugal in the red list category as of December 12, 2021, Malacañang said on Friday.
During his December 10 press briefing, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said that all passengers who have traveled to Portugal within 14 days of arriving in the Philippines will not be permitted to enter the country regardless of their status. vaccination status from December 15, 2021.
Only Filipinos returning to the country via government initiated repatriation, uninitiated government repatriation and Bayanihan flights may be allowed entry.
With the addition of Portugal, the Philippines Red List now has 16 territories.
New testing and quarantine protocols
With the addition of Portugal to the Red List, the Interagency Working Group (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases has also developed new testing and quarantine protocols for Filipinos from Red List territories. .
Fully vaccinated passengers should:
- Present a negative RT-PCR test performed within 72 hours of their flight to the Philippines
- Undergo an institutional quarantine with an RT-PCR test performed on the 7th day from the date of their arrival
- Observe home quarantine until the 14th day if they leave the establishment after discharge from a negative RT-PCR test
For unvaccinated, partially vaccinated passengers whose vaccination status cannot be verified:
- Present a negative RT-PCR test performed within 72 hours of their flight to the Philippines
- Complete a 10-day quarantine in an establishment with an RT-PCR test carried out on the 7th day from the date of their arrival
- Observe home quarantine until day 14
Minors must follow the protocols established for their parent or guardian. However, children aged three and under are not required to test negative for the RT-PCR test before boarding the flight, unless they are symptomatic.
Meanwhile, Nograles said passengers who arrived before December 12, 2021 and are currently in quarantine must follow the testing and quarantine protocols in effect at the time of their arrival.
