Playa Hotels & Resorts just recently celebrated its 10th anniversary with a big event in Cancun.
Additionally, the brand was host to the 6th annual Future Leaders in Travel Retreat.
I caught up with Jermaine Humphrey, Director of US Sales Playa Hotels & Resorts at to hear what the latest is with the company and what travelers and travel advisors need to know.
TravelPulse: How important is it for Playa Hotels and Resort to be hosting the Future Leaders in Travel Retreat again?
Jermaine Humphrey: It’s very important for Playa Hotels and Resorts to be hosting the Future Leaders In Travel Treat for the third consecutive year. As we continue to move forward with post covid, travel advisors continue to play a key role in our success. Research shows that more consumers are more likely to work with travel advisors on future vacations. Hosting FLITR gives Playa not only the opportunity to engage with well vetted and qualified agents of the future. It also give us the exclusive opportunity to showcase our portfolio and provide firsthand experience on what their clients could expect when staying with any of our 25 resorts. The Northstar Team does an amazing job with selecting the right fit agents.
TP: What’s the latest with Playa Hotels and Resorts? What’s new?
JH: This month we celebrated our 10-year anniversary as a leading owner, operator, and developer of all-inclusive resorts. We recently announced our newest Wyndham Alltra Samana, located in the Dominican Republic Samana peninsula and adding to our already strong footprint of all-inclusive resorts in the DR. We also recently announced our newest relationship with another global partner, IHG Hotels and Resorts. We will be partnering with them and introducing the first all-inclusive, Kimpton Hacienda Tres Rios in the Riviera Maya, set to debut in 2024.
TP: What do you think separates Playa Hotels and Resorts from other all-inclusive brands?
JH: Today, consumers are interested in vacationing with brands that they are comfortable with and trust our robust portfolio and partnerships with some of todays top GLOBAL brands, Hyatt, Hilton, Wyndham, Marriott and soon to come IHG provides clients the opportunity for their vacation dreams to Mexico, Jamaica and the DR to come true. Once on property, it’s our team members that bring everything together and deliver the vacation of a lifetime. Customer service is our number one priority.
TP: Now specifically to this resort here, what makes the Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall special?
JH: There are so many things that come to mind when I think why Hyatt Ziva/Zilara Rose Hall is special. These 2x 5-star luxury resorts are the heartbeat of the 5 Playa properties in Jamaica and continues to be the leader by setting the bar in each of Playa Hotels and Resorts pillars: daily world class entrainment, elevated food and beverage, and health and wellness. To be frank, it’s the team members on property and their commitment to excel in providing service from the heart. Not to mention, clients will have the opportunity to have some of the best jerk chicken on the island. This was also one of the first properties where we had two resorts adjacent to each other, providing an 18+ year access to both the Ziva and Zilara.
TP: How does Playa Hotels and Resorts work with travel advisors?
JH: Travel advisors have and will continue to be a key component of our success. One of the many reasons we were able to celebrate our 10-year anniversary this month and continue to be a leader in the all-inclusive segment wouldn’t have been possible without our commitment to work with travel advisors. Travel advisors play a valuable role in our vision and growth. Hence to why we advocate having one if not the best TA rewards program in the industry with our Agent Cash Rewards Program. Giving the TA and their clients to be rewarded. With that, Playa Hotels and Resorts is committed to working and growing our relationship with the TA community.
