Curaçao’s booming popularity with vacationers in 2023 is prompting increased
airlift to the Dutch Caribbean nation. American Airlines will launch daily
flights to Curaçao from Charlotte Douglas International Airport beginning in December,
the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) announced.
Citing “growing demand” for Curaçao flights, American
Airlines will expand its once-weekly nonstop service from Charlotte to daily
flights beginning December 3 through April 3, 2024, CTB officials said in a
statement.
The flights will depart Charlotte at 9:05 a.m., arriving in
Curaçao at 2:14 p.m. A return flight from to Charlotte will depart
at 3:52 p.m. and land at 7:10 p.m.
Additionally, Air Canada expanded its seasonal Curaçao departures
from Toronto Pearson International Airport to year-round flights beginning in
June, CTB officials said.
The thrice-weekly nonstop flights depart Monday, Thursday
and Saturday departing Toronto at 9:30 a.m. and arriving in Curaçao at 2:40
p.m. A return flight departs Curaçao at 3:40 p.m. landing in Toronto at 9:10
p.m.
The expanded flight schedule will “provide travelers from
the United States convenient access to Curaçao's tropical paradise,” said CTB
officials, and “provide more travel options for our local people."
“Curaçao has been long working toward product and
infrastructure development to attract North American tourist[s],” said
Ruisandro Cijntje, Curaçao’s minister of economic development.
"The introduction of year-round airlift from Toronto
with Air Canada, as well as the daily service from Charlotte with American
Airlines, further underscores the island’s continued growth and our commitment
to providing visitors with exceptional travel experiences.”
