Royal Caribbean International has unveiled new details regarding the exciting entertainment lineup aboard its newest cruise ship, Icon of the Seas, ahead of its debut in January 2024.
Guests can look forward to a handful of full-scale shows across the cruise line's four signature stages—air, ice, water and theater—and more live music and comedy than ever before.
Icon of the Seas' impressive roster of entertainers will include more than 75 world-class performers and as many as 50 live musicians and comedians.
AquaDome and Aqua Theater
In the all-new AquaDome, "Aqua Action!" will combine technological and physical feats in a unique production boasting Olympic-level high divers, skateboarders, aerialists, slackliners and synchronized swimmers.
The experience promises to blur the lines between live-action movie and theatrical experience, Royal Caribbean said.
Meanwhile, "Pirates vs. Mermaids" will bring to life a mythical world through a combination of a lighthearted storyline, fairytale characters and humor appealing to adults and kids alike.
Royal Theater
The first rendition of "The Wizard of Oz" at sea will tell the tale of Dorothy's adventure to Oz with a modern twist.
Beloved characters will soar above the audience, which will be treated to a revolutionary set design with never-before-seen stage effects, more than 600 costume elements and an original score performed by a new 16-piece orchestra.
"SHOWBAND! Live. Music. Now." will wow music lovers by spotlighting 16 talented musicians. Their skills will be complemented by the venue's cutting-edge sound and video technology along with the show conductor and string, woodwind, brass and percussion instrumentalists.
Absolute Zero Ice Arena
At the Absolute Zero ice arena, guests can look forward to "Starburst: Elemental Beauty," an artistic interpretation of the periodic table of elements telling the story of the building blocks of life.
The Olympic-level ice cast will show off high-speed choreography featuring more tricks and higher jumps that will drop jaws with the help of digitally mapped backdrops and vibrant lighting displays.
"Once Upon a Time: The King’s Royal Ball" will be the ultimate gathering of famous fairytale superstars and is especially geared toward young guests and their families.
Adult guests, meanwhile, can head to the Manhattan-inspired Comedy Club for a hilarious date night or enjoy live music of all kinds at Lou’s Jazz ‘n Blues, Dueling Pianos, the Schooner Bar and the Point & Feather English pub.
"At the heart of so many of the memories made on Royal Caribbean vacations is a combination of live entertainment that’s unmatched in the vacation industry, and we’re taking it to the next level on Icon of the Seas," Nick Weir, senior vice president, entertainment, Royal Caribbean International, said in a statement.
"If you’re a fan of full-scale productions on Broadway and the West End or live music and comedy in hot spots like Las Vegas, Icon has it all for every mood and style in one vacation – alongside never-before-seen twists only found on Royal Caribbean."
Icon of the Seas, which is already seeing record-breaking demand, will sail seven-night eastern and western Caribbean itineraries from Miami beginning next year.
