Riviera Maya Travel Guide

Riviera Maya, just south of Cancun, is the ultimate tourist destination. You can find just about anything to do here, from wandering around ancient Mayan ruins to partying the night away. It also hosts some of the most beautiful natural beauty in the world with its pristine beaches and gorgeous forests.

Riviera Maya is open to many different forms of transport to get you from place to place. It makes use of an intricate bus system (ADO) that navigates from central bus station to central bus station. Buses are most definitely the cheapest form of transportation, however, they are also the slowest.

Taxis are also a quick and easy way of getting around. However, we highly recommend renting a car. This is the most time and cost-efficient means of navigation. Plus, you can go where you want when you want.

National Languages

The national language of Riviera Maya is Spanish. However, due to the high influx of tourism, you can easily navigate this holiday destination in English.

Climate And Weather

There’s nothing more that you expect from a beach holiday destination than sunny days and warm weather. However, as lovely as the weather can be, the Riviera Maya can also experience chilly weather during winter and the chance of hurricanes during summer.

In general, Riviera Maya is characterized by a rainy season and a dry season. The rainy season runs from around May to October and is also the hurricane season, with a greater chance of them occurring in August and October. Luckily, hurricanes are quite rare here.

The dry season runs from around November to April. This is the winter time so temperatures are a bit cooler and it is less humid.

We would suggest booking your trip from around November to February. During this time, you can still expect the warm weather that Riviera Maya is famous for. However, you skip the overbearing heat of March and May and the frequent rain showers of the wet season.

However, this stunning visit is host to just enough culture, scenic views, and nights out to draw everyone.

Playa del Carmen: If you are looking for a night out, good food, and overall good vibes - we will direct you straight to Playa del Carmen. This once-small village will still have you wandering the town on foot despite its cosmopolitan upgrade.
