Punta Cana Travel Guide

If you are seeking a tropical getaway with fantastic weather, pristine beaches, and top-class resorts, Punta Cana has everything to offer.

The beaches are just a fraction of the natural beauty in this region. With vast forestry, caves, lagoons, and natural sinkholes amongst other wonders, you will feel like you are in paradise.

How you get around Punta Cana will depend on the type of holiday you plan to have.

If you are staying at a resort and intend to stay put in that immediate area for most of your stay, then you will not need transport daily. You can get a taxi or transfer between the airport and the resort on arrival and departure.

If you plan to venture out and explore the island, we recommend renting a car for the duration of your stay. This makes more sense in terms of cost and allows you to get around at your leisure.

Keep in mind that if you book daily tours or excursions on the island, these will often include transport that takes you around.

Punta Cana has warm, pleasant temperatures all year round. The popular tourist season is during the winter months, as this period is usually considered to be the dry season.

Despite the summer months being the wet season, you can still travel at this time of year if you want to avoid crowds and peak prices.

We always recommend checking weather forecasts ahead of time to avoid the months when there is a higher risk of heavy rainfall and tropical storms.

  • La Cana Golf Club: If you are looking to unwind with a good game of golf, you will struggle to find a course quite as well-located and picturesque as La Cana Golf Club in Punta Cana. The luxury golf course has 27 holes and is perched directly next to the ocean, making the views our favorite part.
  • Bavaro Beach: You can find several beautiful beaches along the coast of Punta Cana, but our favorite spot is Bavaro Beach. The white sand shore meets the bright blue water to create the perfect place to relax, take a dip in the ocean, or partake in water activities.
  • Coco Bongo: For a nightlife experience you will never forget, the Coco Bongo Show and Disco has become the vibrant center of Punta Cana. You can enjoy a disco and an entertaining show that changes regularly, but can feature anything from Samba to Moulin Rouge. We suggest booking well in advance, as this crowd-pleaser sells out quickly!
