The Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) announced that
Panama would be the next host destination for the annual Adventure Travel World
Summit (ATWS), running October 7-10, 2024.
Next year’s edition of the ATWS being in Panama makes the
first time the summit will be held in Central America, with the country’s tourism
industry focused on sustainable adventure travel, with key initiatives aimed at
partnering with local communities.
Over the years, the ATTA and Panama have built a close
relationship based on the combined focus on sustainable development of the
adventure travel industry.
“Since 2017, ATTA has been working with partners in Panama
to increase community-based travel in the country,” ATTA Vice President Gabi
Stowell said. “Along the way, I learned so much about this amazing destination
and discovered that Panama is truly a gem, filled with diverse culture and biodiversity,
and endless adventure.”
The annual four-day ATWS brings together around 800 people
in the adventure travel business for a series of collaborative learning
workshops, one-on-one networking opportunities, inspirational speakers, and a
Day of Adventure.
“Since we have been honored to be chosen as the host country
for the next ATWS, we are delighted to extend a special invitation, especially
to our esteemed friends from Asia,” Panama Tourism Ministry’s Denise Guillen
Zuniga said. “Panama has so much to explore, with hidden treasures waiting to
be discovered and enjoyed. We have been curating this event to welcome intrepid
travelers from over 60 countries across the globe, and we eagerly anticipate
your arrival in 2024.”
The ATTA revealed that the adventures, agendas, keynote
speakers and official media delegates will be announced at a later date.
