Palladium Hotel Group has enhanced Grand Palladium Jamaica Resort & Spa in Montego Bay through a $27.5 million refurbishment project.
Efforts focused on the property's 537 suites, including 48 suites of two new categories—40 Superior Junior Suite Private Pool Ocean View and eight Superior Suite Private Pool Oceanfront View—that now boast a terrace, private pool and sea views.
Additionally, common areas have been renovated, including the lobby, one of the resort's show-cooking restaurants and one of its most iconic bar and lounge areas.
Guests will notice new furniture and colonial decor in each room as well as bathrooms featuring hydromassage bathtubs and showers. Palladium has also taken a big step toward sustainability by installing energy-saving systems with sensors for light and air conditioning and efficient heating pumps for the swim-up pools.
With the help of more than 6,000 photovoltaic panels and other measures, more than 20 percent of the resort's energy is renewable and it avoids 300,000 pounds of CO2 emissions per month, Palladium said.
The MoBay show-cooking venue, open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, has increased its capacity to accommodate up to as many as 286 diners. The space is divided into four areas by screens and features two new food stations to offer guests more variety complemented by vegetation, mixed fabrics, and green, black and light tones.
Meanwhile, The Infinity Saloon Bar, a popular meeting point offering 180-degree views of the Caribbean Sea, shows and live music, was also renovated. Its open-air terrace now boasts elegant awnings and lounge-style furniture with sofas and large armchairs.
Guests will also notice a new look at check-in. "In the lobby, further enhancements of the English colonial style were made to the solid wood and furniture. The reception has been updated with white treillage lattices and mirrors that match perfectly with the bold black lamps installed in the area," Palladium said.
Urcoisa Interior Design (UID) oversaw the new design, which seeks to refresh the resort's English colonial style with a fresh look that's in line with the brand elements of Grand Palladium Hotels & Resorts. UID also aimed to integrate elements of nature into the design and interior decoration through colors, textures and natural materials.
Grand Palladium Jamaica Resort & Spa's refurbishment comes on the heels of the 2016 renovation of the Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton Resort & Spa, which is located in the same resort in Montego Bay.
