The
Brazilian Tourist Board (Embratur) inked an agreement with Panama-based Copa
Airlines to promote Brazil abroad via “the effort and expertise of both companies,”
said officials in a statement.
Announced at
this week’s ABAV International Expo in Rio de Janeiro, the partners will utilize
joint marketing and promotional programs and initiatives to increase Copa
Airlines' air connectivity and presence in Brazilian destinations.
Loyalty
programs and “benefits for foreign tourists who use Copa Airlines,” are also planned
under the agreement, said officials. The partners will also “promote
sustainability, social responsibility and diversity and inclusion actions
related to tourism,” under the agreement.
Copa
officials consider the partnership “an important moment to further expand
connectivity between Brazil and the Americas,” said Raphael de Lucca, Copa
Airlines’ country manager.
The agreement
will also offer Embratur “the opportunity to promote Brazil, with emphasis on
Central America and the Caribbean, in addition to Colombia, said de Lucca, and “facilitate
the entry of millions of foreigners into our country” in cities around the country
where Copa operates.
Copa serves
Brazilian cities and regions including Manaus, Brasilia, Belo Horizonte and
Porto Alegre, said de Lucca, enabling travelers to experience a variety of cultural
events.
“This is a
partnership that consolidates our strategy of promoting the diversity of
destinations in Brazil,” said Marcelo Freixo, Embratur’s president, “with a
focus on our paradisiacal beaches, but also as a protagonist in adventure,
Afro-tourism and sustainability destinations.”
