Disney Cruise Line has unveiled the first renderings and information about the new Disney Treasure cruise ship, which is expected to debut in December 2024 as the second in the line’s new Wish-class ships.

The Disney Treasure’s new motto and theme is “Adventure,” and it takes inspiration from a variety of beloved Disney adventures, but most notably, it’s the first ship in the fleet to take inspiration from popular attractions found within Disney Parks across the globe.

“When we thought about the three ships that we were designing, we really thought overall about the Disney brand and the pillars that make up the Disney brand,” said Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager, Disney Cruise Line. “As we thought about the Disney Wish, we thought about ‘Enchantment’ as the motif that we leaned into. When we started to think about ‘Adventure,’ we really fell in love with the idea, because there are so many opportunities for us to pull from a variety of stories that we tell.”

“The parks just provide such great inspiration,” Siskie continued. “We almost came at it from the opposite angle of saying ‘Where are our most adventurous stories?’ and we were leaning back into ideas that were generated in the parks.”

Key Specifications

The Disney Treasure is the sister ship to the Disney Wish, which debuted last year as the first in the Wish class series. It’s currently under construction at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany. The ship will run on liquefied natural gas (LNG).

The ship will welcome up to 4,000 passengers with a crew of 1,555 when it debuts on December 21, 2024. It features 1,256 staterooms, including 948 verandah staterooms, 185 oceanview staterooms and 123 inside staterooms. Specialty configurations include 53 concierge staterooms, 23 concierge suites, four Royal Suites and one Tomorrow Tower Suite.

The Disney Treasure’s inaugural sailing will depart from Port Canaveral on a seven-night journey to the Eastern Caribbean; the ship will then offer a selection of seven-night sailings to the Eastern and Western Caribbean from Port Canaveral through the Caribbean sailing season.

Bookings will open for the general public September 20, 2023; Castaway Club members will have exclusive access to the Disney Treasure itineraries to book on September 12, 2023.

Design & Entertainment Features

With a theme like “Adventure,” there’s no end to the inspiration from beloved Disney adventures from Coco to Aladdin and more. However, one of the main inspirations for several locations and offerings around the ship comes from beloved Disney Parks attractions and rides.

Adult areas especially take inspiration from Disney Parks attractions, including two lounge areas.

The Skipper Society, located near the Aladdin-inspired Grand Hall, is the first at sea to be inspired by the Jungle Cruise theme park attraction. It’ll immerse travelers in the jungle aesthetic as they enjoy communing over themed drinks and live entertainment.

Those who desire more mysterious adventures will enjoy going 20,000 leagues under the sea in Periscope Pub, the first area on a Disney Cruise Line ship to take inspiration from Walt Disney’s 1954 film, “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” and the subsequent theme park attraction. Guests will be transported into the 19th-century Nautilus submarine, and may even encounter giant sea life as they sip their drinks from themed goblets.

The Walt Disney Theatre will feature three Broadway-style productions for families to enjoy together, including “Beauty and the Beast,” and “Disney’s Seas the Adventure.” A third production exclusive to the Disney Treasure will be announced at a later date.

The family-friendly Aquamouse adventure will come with a new story — Aquamouse: Curse of the Golden Egg, in which kids and adults alike can discover a new chapter in Mickey and Minnie’s story as they uncover an ancient temple.

Daytime activities and adults-only entertainment will be held at Sarabi, a Lion King-themed event space offering two stories of seating areas and perfect for game shows and other fun entertainment activities.

New Dining Experiences

The Disney Treasure will feature several new and exciting dining experiences onboard.

The Plaza de Coco is the first-ever theatrical dining experience centered around the beloved favorite musical film, Coco. The restaurant will transport diners to Santa Cecilia, Miguel’s hometown, and feature Coco’s classic music with a live mariachi band and dancers, as diners discover a new story about Miguel and his musical family. The menu will feature Mexican favorites with a modern twist for all ages.

“I think my favorite space will be the entertainment restaurant, Plaza de Coco,” said Siskie. “As we were doing the work for the planning for that space, we just continued to get so excited about that space…To be able to bring a story like that to life —  about family, while you’re having dinner with your family and among other families as well, the energy and the heart that that story has, and then the music and the colors and all of that — will make it such a highlight for families. I think that’s one that we’ve done a great job creatively and the storytelling is just fun.”

The ship’s sweetshop, Jumbeaux’s Sweets, will be the fun place to fill up on some sugary goodness inspired by Disney’s Zootopia film. It’ll feature a pink, Victorian-inspired interior and a sculptural piece featuring main characters Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde.

The Worlds of Marvel dining experience is also going to feature a new story onboard the Disney Treasure, though the details are still currently classified.

Other specially themed dining and eating venues for the ship include two new cafes; Heihei Cafe will feature Polynesian construction methods and plenty of inspiration from Moana, while the Jade Cricket Cafe calls to mind historical Chinese architecture with a circular moon gate, inspired by Mulan and her lucky cricket companion.

Accommodations & More

Staterooms aboard the Disney Treasure are designed with families in mind, many offering split-bathroom designs, connecting room configurations and more. All offer bathtubs.

Each distinct category and style of staterooms onboard the Treasure will feature different inspirational design elements. The Concierge class, for example, will take a modern twist on the savannah from The Lion King, while four royal suites take inspiration from the noble big cats found in Aladdin and The Jungle Book

One new category of suite is the Tomorrow Tower Suite, the largest onboard. Located in the ship’s forward funnel, it offers 2,000 square feet of space and sleeps up to eight individuals. It’s inspired by Disney’s EPCOT, with a futuristic design aesthetic that includes glass and chrome elements throughout.

Disney’s Oceaneer Club will ensure infants, kids and teens of all ages will find something to enjoy while their parents enjoy the adults-only offerings. Kids and teens can choose from the Marvel Super Hero Academy, Fairytale Hall, Walt Disney Imagineering Lab, Star Wars: Cargo Bay or Mickey and Minnie Captain’s Deck to spend time learning and playing in themed environments.
