Important Things To Know
Currency
The Mexican Peso is the national currency although some places in Cabo San Lucas accept USD. However, it’s best to exchange your currency for pesos, especially for use on public transport and at local vendors.
National Languages
Spanish is the most widely spoken language here. But because Cabo San Lucas is such a tourist hotspot, English is also widely spoken and understood. This was the case at the resorts and hotels we visited.
Climate And Weather
The weather is driven by the fact that Cabo San Lucas is where the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez (Gulf of California) meet.
The tropical desert climate offers hot Summer weather and pleasantly mild and warm Winter weather. But when cooler air arrives from the US side during winter, nighttime temperatures can be cooler, especially due to a windchill factor.
The Baja California Peninsula can sometimes be affected by hurricanes in the Pacific Ocean. Traditionally, this usually happens in September, but the risk is also present during August and October. September is also usually the month with the muggiest weather.
