50 Great Christmas Markets Around the World

Christmas Around the World

1/51
Let's get the disclaimers out of the way first.

It's 2020, the coronavirus pandemic is still wreaking havoc throughout the world, and many of the 50 great Christmas markets on our list this year will have gone virtual, been greatly impacted by social distancing, or outright canceled.

No matter what, these markets have established themselves as some of the best in the world, and this year we were sure to add in more of the world with markets in Asia, South America and Africa in addition to Canada, Europe and, of course, the United States.

So please enjoy this list, try to hit some of the markets that are still being held - um, call ahead - and put some of these destinations on your bucket list for 2021 and beyond, when we're back to normal.

Georgetown Christmas Market - Georgetown, Colorado

2/51
For more than 60 years, Georgetown, Colo., in the foothills of the Rockies, has hosted a Christmas market with numerous vendors selling their wares. But it's so much more than that. Over two weekends in December, Georgetown transforms into a winter wonderland of Victorian carolers, horsedrawn wagon rides and the beautiful Santa Lucia Children's Procession at Noon each day.

Texas Christkindl Market - Arlington, Texas

3/51
In suburban Dallas, the annual Texas Christkindl Market is a German-inspired holiday spectacular with some of the coolest, and rare, Christmas gifts, decorations and ornaments. There's also plenty of food and live entertainment, and more than enough stuff to keep the kids in awe. Including The Man himself, Santa.

Christkindlmarket - Bethlehem, Pennsylvania

4/51
Now, let's be honest here. When would a Christmas market in a town named Bethlehem NOT be a must-see? That's what the Christkindlmarket is like over a five-week period during the holidays. This might be one of the most diverse holiday markets in the country, and we love the ice-sculpting demonstrations they have.

Enchant Christmas! - Seattle, Washington

5/51
At T-Mobile Park, welcome to Enchant Christmas! The heart of downtown Seattle turns into one of the world's largest light maze every year, led by a mischievous elf who has a heart of gold. 7/51
If you're getting the idea that "German-themed" or "German-inspired" has been used a lot here, you're right. The Great Dickens Christmas Fair - San Francisco, California

9/51
Now this is unique. Yes, it's a market in terms of having plenty of vendors and food.
